Towards People-Centered Healthcare: A Workshop on Community Engagement
The Global Learning Collaborative for Health Systems Resilience (GLC4HSR) unites stakeholders worldwide to co-create knowledge and drive meaningful learning for stronger health systems.
We focus on developing systems that can prevent, prepare for, and respond effectively to pandemics and health crises.
By leveraging international expertise, we bridge gaps in knowledge and practice for a unified response to health challenges.
Our work ensures that health systems worldwide are equipped with the tools and strategies to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing landscape.
With a presence in 16 countries, our global network brings together diverse perspectives to drive innovation. We foster cross-regional learning and deliver strategies that are globally aligned yet locally relevant.
Founded amidst the challenges posed by a global pandemic, GLC4HSR has identified and prioritized its efforts in seven key domains critical to achieving health systems resilience:
Establishing robust frameworks to continuously evaluate health system performance, identify vulnerabilities, and guide evidence-based interventions that bolster system capacity to endure, adapt, and recover from crises without compromising routine service delivery.
Advancing integrated, real‑time surveillance networks and analytic platforms to detect, monitor, and forecast emerging health threats, enabling rapid, coordinated responses that curtail transmission and safeguard population health at all levels.
Designing and implementing mechanisms to guarantee equitable access to comprehensive, high‑quality healthcare services - spanning preventive, primary, and specialized care - while minimizing financial barriers and ensuring continuity of care for all communities.
Cultivating inclusive governance structures and transparent decision‑making processes that promote accountability, stakeholder engagement, and evidence‑informed policy formulation, thereby strengthening institutional trust and strategic oversight.
Crafting sustainable, diversified financing models - combining public funding, risk‑pooling, and innovative private‑sector partnerships - to secure consistent resource flows, absorb fiscal shocks, and invest in resilience‑building infrastructure.
Reinforcing end‑to‑end logistics systems through advanced planning, strategic stockpiling, and adaptive procurement practices to ensure uninterrupted availability and timely distribution of essential medicines, diagnostics, and medical equipment.
Empowering and collaborating with local communities and civil society actors to co‑create health policies, tailor interventions to cultural contexts, and foster mutual accountability, thereby enhancing responsiveness and trust in health systems.
Integrating climate risk assessments and environmentally sustainable practices into health system planning - such as green infrastructure, low‑carbon operations, and climate‑resilient facility design - to mitigate climate‑driven health hazards and promote ecological stewardship.
Developing targeted strategies and mobile health solutions to deliver critical medical and psychosocial services in conflict zones and displacement settings, while strengthening system linkages to support continuity of care and disease prevention.
Embedding gender‑transformative and equity‑focused principles across all stages of health system design and implementation - through disaggregated data, inclusive policies, and targeted resource allocation - to address systemic disparities and ensure fair health outcomes.
